College Projects

Animated Greeting Card

Students were expected to create a holiday greeting card utilizing a variety of animation effects as well as a limited color palette in Adobe After Effects.

Because it was coming up at the time, the holiday I chose was Halloween. I decided to animate a cuter take on the holiday, with a seemingly scary hooded figure working away actually being a frog making holiday themed treats for his friends.

Completed fall 2020.

Rigged and Animated Character Bust

Students were given the task of creating a 2D character bust, which would be comprised of many individual layers and rigged in Adobe Character Animator to move along with the movement of the student in the computer's webcam. The assignment also required the bust be able to move its eyes, blink, and lipsync.

I decided to use a character of mine, finding the end result similar to the trend of "Vtubers" for streaming and videos.

Completed fall 2020.

Character Parade

Students were expected to create a one minute long video, in which a set of three 2D rigged characters moved along a parallax background set to music.

For my character parade project, I took inspiration from older cartoons in which characters would be made up of simple 2D forms on a complex painted background.

I originally intended to have four backgrounds to portray the characters as if they were walking across all four seasons, but due to time constraints I was only able to complete three. The fourth unfinished painting, meant to represent autumn, can be found below along with the three final paintings.

Completed fall 2020.
